The Arizona Choral Society (ACS) will perform its Fall Concert on Sunday, November 22nd at 3:30 pm at Catalina United Methodist, 2700 E Speedway Blvd, Tucson. The program consisted of choral masterpieces from different periods, including Christmas holiday pieces. Music will be a cappella and organ and orchestra accompaniments. The orchestra includes flutes, oboes, bassoon, trumpets, timpani and strings. Composers included Praetorium, Philidor, Charpentier, Rutter and Wilberg. Several well-known pieces by John Rutter will be in the program, including "Joy to the World," with audience sing along.
ACS is a multi-generational, Southern Arizona choral group dedicated to excellence in singing and authentic performance of music. The conductor is Dr. Jonathan Ng, also Director of Sacred Music and Arts at Catalina United Methodist Church. Dr. Ng has appeared as orchestral and choral conductor for various groups throughout the United States. He made his Carnegie Hall conducting debut in May 2007 with many of the current ACS members. He received his doctorate in Conducting with minors in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy and Music History and Literature from Indiana University. He received his master’s degree in Conducting and Church Music from Westminster Choir College.
